Events and circumstances create "turning points" in the lives of youth. When adults accompany youth through these defining moments, many youth connect with God at a deeper level and expand their Christian faith. Section I provides the theological and conceptual framework for ministering with youth at certain turning points in their lives. It explains why times of transition are so powerful in shaping the lives of youth. This section offers strategies for preparing oneself as a trustworthy spiritual leader among youth. It also helps leaders with real-life issues, e.g., burnout and how to find support and encouragement. Section 2 explores eight types of turning points (defining moments) common to youth. Each chapter includes devotional material, real stories from youth, indepth background information, strategies for discovering what is happening in the lives of youth, and activities for helping youth make connections between the "turning point" in their lives and their faith experience.
