The acorn blown into the crevice of a crag becomes an oak that winds its roots about the place of stones, and gains strength by conflict. These familiar truths find their parallel in the story of the wind-sown boy, fitted for his lifework by the very perils that in childhood environed and at that time threatened to destroy him.
