A number ofnovel binaphthoquinone and naphthoquinone-naphthalenebiaryl compounds were synthesized by using Suzukimethodology.Several analogues were evaluated for their biologicalactivity against fast growing bacteria viz., M.smegmatis and M. aurum and against a clinical strainof M. tuberculosis. Four novel quinones were alsoevaluated for their ability to induce apoptosis inthree cancer cell lines viz., HeLa, MCF7, MG63 andone normal cell line i.e. CHO by using APOpercentage,DNA fragmentation and Cell cycle assays.
